8 REASONS WHY
"
CHOICE",THE RIGHT TO KILL ANOTHER HUMAN BEING,
IS INDEFENSIBLE!
If it's not life, what is it? If he isn't alive, then why is he growing? And if he's alive and a human being, why are we killing him?
State Rep Penny Pullen
Women are free to reproduce or not reproduce as they will. But once having reproduced, they shouldn't be free to kill their baby.
Gregg Cunningham
1. A unique human life begins at conception - Doctors and scientists agree that life begins at conception. Not only is human conception the beginning of human life, it is the beginning of a unique human life. We each carry 46 chromosomes which contain our DNA. DNA is the blueprint for our life long development. The same DNA is carried in every cell of our bodies. It is our biological fingerprint. It so accurately distinguishes us from other humans that it has been used successfully to win court cases. The woman's egg contains only half the needed chromosomes for human life. The other half is provided by the man's sperm. When the egg and sperm join together in a single cell, the chromosomes are combined in a single nucleus. A new DNA combination results. At this point, the cell is no longer an extension of its mother. This new cell with its unique DNA composition constitutes a new unique human life. Within 14 days, this tiny human is sending biological messages to its mother's system about its presence. Within 28 days, a heart beat is detectible. Within six weeks, brain activity is detectible and this human life is producing its own blood, often a different blood type than that of its mother. There is no doubt. This is a unique human being growing within the woman. Her body now sustains two lives, hers and this new life.
2. The fetus is viable at six months - Viability should not serve as a test of one's right to live since even a 1-year old, left unattended, will probably die within 48 hours. But, since it has been suggested.... As early as 24 weeks, with the help of medical science, the fetus (Latin for "young one" or "offspring") can survive outside the womb. It is viable! This major milestone, the point at which the fetus is no longer dependent upon its mother, continues to move earlier and earlier as medical science advances. Should the mother become incapable of carrying the fetus after viability, the infant can survive if he or she is removed from its mother and placed in the care of real doctors. Following accidents fatal to their mothers, babies in their third trimester have been removed from their mother's womb and survived. They did not die when their mother did!
3. There is nothing magic about the brief passage through the birth canal - Woman A and woman B conceive on the same day. Woman A delivers her healthy baby on time. Woman B has yet to deliver. Immediately after Women A delivers, both decide to rid themselves of their babies. Women A tosses her baby in a dumpster to die, is charged with murder and sentenced to prison. Women B has an abortion, recovers from her operation and goes about her life while the "co-conspirator" who performed the execution operation receives a handsome payment. What's the difference? Less than six inches! Partial birth abortions are performed to "terminate" these late term pregnancies. The partial birth abortion procedure, in which all but the head of the baby is delivered before the doctor punctures the skull and sucks the brains from the cranial cavity, is perfectly legal. Until completely delivered, the baby is fair game. Why? Some ill informed judges decreed that there is something magic, mystical, yet arbitrary about a baby's complete travel through the birth canal. Does that make it right? At an absolute minimum, once a baby is viable, shouldn't it be considered murder to takes its life regardless of its position, in or out of the birth canal? Furthermore, shouldn't the thousands of killings performed in this nation of its viable unborn, be labeled what it really is, infanticide?
4. "Choice" is a license to kill.. essential to consequence free sex - When you get right down to the core of the issue, isn't "choice" really nothing more than a demand by women for a license to kill the unborn in order to guarantee sex without consequences? In most cases, when a woman has intercourse, with or without the use of birth control measures, doesn't she know pregnancy is possible? Doesn't she know a new human life might result? Doesn't she choose to take that chance? Isn't it true that our school systems have spent millions upon millions of dollars to ensure our populace knows that pregnancies result from sex? Didn't a woman really make her choice when she decided to have intercourse? Isn't the United States sacrificing millions of unborn just to provide women a consequence free sex life?
5. The "Health" clause is a legal loophole, crafted by politicians, to enable women to circumvent abortion laws - The health of the mother, or any citizen for that matter, is important. However, by legal precedent, the term health is inclusive of psychological health. It is further true that a psychologist can certify that the inconvenience of pregnancy or motherhood can detrimentally affect the mental or emotional well being of the patient, otherwise known as health of the mother. The insertion of a health clause in the partial-birth abortion bill still leaves a woman with "choice". It merely adds the bill of a psychiatrist to the cost of abortions.
6. "Choice" sets a horrible precedent for the medical field - Let's say, aside from life endangerment, that the physical health of the mother would be affected for the rest of her life by the continued pregnancy. Since when has the United States sanctioned the taking of one life to guarantee the health of another? If the United States were to ever value health above life, wouldn't it be just a matter of time before Americans cultivated, stored, and then sacrificed clones to provide replacments for own aged, unhealthy, or damaged body parts? Afterall, cultured from our own DNA, clones would be just extensions of our bodies. Why shouldn't we all have the same "choice" that women do now, to do with "our bodies" what we want?
7. The Declaration of Independence guarantees life - Why doesn't the Declaration of Independence, one of this nation's founding documents, protect these distinct human beings? Doesn't it state that all men are endowed by their Creator with inalienable rights, among them are Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Doesn't it specify only the pursuit of happiness and not happiness itself? Where is the precedent that favors sex without consequences for one individual over the life of another? This precedent, whatever it is and if it can be found, should never be permitted to preempt the Declaration of Independence. This is America or is it!
8. Even the voiceless Americans are entitled their dignity as human beings Doesn't this debate on "choice" parallel the debate on slavery? Didn't the slaves lack a voice and didn't they need someone to champion their rights as human beings? Where would Afro-Americans be today if Americans felt "They belonged to their masters." After all, if given their human dignity in the form of freedom, wouldn't there be negative impacts to the well being of their owners"? How could anyone dare interfere with the "choice" of the slave owner?

Despite the overwhelming and effective marketing by Planned Parenthood and the billion dollar abortion industry in perpetuating the"choice" myth upon an all-too-willing public, abortion is, has been, and will forever be a human atrocity. Abortion is not a religious issue. It is a human rights issue. Just ask yourself.... How can our country even begin to speak to China, for example, about their abuse of basic human rights when this country sanctions the cruel killing of millions of human beings in this country just for the sake of consequence free sex? Further, if the American public will sanction the termination of new human life for the sake of convenience, what won't it sanction for the sake of personal convenience? Paints an ugly picture of Americans, doesn't it? This American holocaust must stop but it won't change without your involvement. Besides sharing this information and flyer with others, we need to let our political representatives know how important it is for them to minimize the abortion atrocity in America.
Other facts worth knowing:
o According to Planned Parenthood's Alan Guttmacher Institute, 92 percent of abortions are for convenience.
o After week 20, it is twice as dangerous for a woman to have an abortion as to carry the baby to term.
o Long term studies show that 10-30% of abortion patients experience serious, long-term psychiatric problems.
o The risk of pregnancies developing outside the womb are doubled for women who have had one abortion, quadrupled for women who have had two or more.
o In 1972, one year before Roe v Wade, 39 woman died from illegal abortions. In 1982, ten years later, 24 women died as a result of legal abortions.
o Abortions due to rape, incest, endangerment of the mother, and a defective child account for less than 3% of all abortions. 97% are elective.
o 1.5 million abortions are performed annually in this country alone. Since 1973 (Roe v. Wade) more than 27 million abortions have been performed in the United States.
o One in four pregnancies ends in abortion.
o Almost half, 45% of women seeking abortions are repeat customers.
o Planned Parenthood charges $370 for a first term abortion (less than 10 minute procedure) and $410-$875 for a second term abortion (10-15 minute procedure). $2200-2600/hour rates make abortion a highly lucrative industry.
